Master the Art of Counter-Building (Stop Using Default Builds!)

One of the biggest mistakes players make in Epic and Legend ranks is sticking to a "Fixed Build." They find a "Pro Build" online, copy it, and use it every single game regardless of who they are fighting. If you want to push your win rate above 60%, you must learn to Counter-Build. Why Your "Fixed Build" is Failing You Imagine you are playing a Marksman and the enemy team has an assassin like Saber or Helcurt who can one-shot you. If you continue building only damage items like Windtalker and Berserker's Fury, you will spend the entire match waiting to respawn. A dead Marksman does zero damage. Key Items You Must Know: Antique Cuirass vs. Physical Burst: If the enemy has heroes that rely on skills (like Terizla, Paquito, or Lancelot), this item is a lifesaver. It reduces the enemy's Physical Attack by 6% when you are hit by a skill. Athena’s Shield vs. Magic Burst: Don't wait until Eudora or Aurora has killed you five times. If the enemy has high magic burst, buy this early. It provides a massive magic damage reduction shield for a few seconds. Radiant Armor vs. Continuous Magic: If you are fighting Chang’e, Valir, or Harley, Athena’s Shield won't help much because their damage is "poke" style. Radiant Armor is better here as it increases your Magic Damage reduction every time you take a hit. Sea Halberd / Dominance Ice / Necklace of Durance: These are the "Anti-Heal" items. If the enemy has an Estes, Angela, or a high-regen hero like Yu Zhong, and your team hasn't bought one of these items by the 5-minute mark, your win rate drops significantly. The Pro Strategy: The "Situational Slot" Always leave your 5th or 6th item slot flexible. Before you buy your last item, open the scoreboard and look at who on the enemy team has the most gold. Is their Marksman fed? Buy Wind of Nature. Is their Mage carrying the game? Buy Athena’s Shield. Are you being targeted first in every fight? Buy Immortality. Key Takeaway: Real pros don't build for themselves; they build to survive the enemy. Spend 2 seconds every few minutes checking the enemy's items—it’s the easiest way to gain an advantage without needing fast fingers.
